Today, the Ethical Sanctuary is the Foundation’s operational project. From this experience grows a broader vision: caring for animals, sharing knowledge and preparing new initiatives consistent with our mission.

The Foundation’s first project draws on experience with tortoises: habitats, shelters, vegetation and daily attention. A place of care that gives continuity to protection. To preserve the animals’ peace, visits are not currently planned; stories, images and an audiovisual system under development will help us share the journey from afar.
The Sanctuary’s development concerns the quality of its spaces and the possibility of expanding them. We describe the starting point, objectives and available materials, distinguishing the project from completed works.

Responsibility needs

We want to bring the difficulties faced by people who wish to help a tortoise or already care for one into discussions on CITES, European and national rules: from finding animals to complex documentation issues.
The Foundation’s commitment is to call for clearer rules and procedures that support responsible care without weakening action against trafficking and removal from the wild. A process of listening, study and proposals: not a legal assistance service or a guarantee of regularisation.
